The Outreach Program is designed to supplement the services of the ACS by reaching out to eligible community members not currently using our services. It is a proactive preventative program that informs, educates and assists all Department of Defense (DOD) military personnel (Active, Retired, Reserve and National Guard), DOD Civilians and their Families. Through the development of a holistic approach to assessing needs, referrals to other ACS programs and external agencies are done in a timely and accurate manner.
The primary focus of the Outreach Program is to deliver services to those who have been identified as needing outreach services. Based on prior needs assessments the following groups are targeted:
First term Soldiers and their Families
Geographically isolated Families
Newly arrived Soldiers and Families to the USAG Stuttgart community
Single parents, dual military and Families with Exceptional needs
Although all ACS services and programs influence some aspect of the Outreach Program in their service delivery model, the Outreach Program Coordinator organizes and administers the program. This involves developing and implementing methods to actively inform eligible community members and their Families of available social and related support services, and linking these services with target populations.
Service delivery methods include design, coordination and facilitation of community special events such as the USAG Stuttgart - ACS Community Awareness Registration and Education (C.A.R.E.) Fair, Military Spouse Appreciation Day, National Disability Week, Disability Mentor Day and the annual Christmas Angel Tree celebrations. Also included are Network delivery, satellite centers, and on-post community venues.
