Values

We value excellence in:

  • High Quality Training
  • Resourcefulness
  • Life-Long Learning

Goals

  • Prepare individuals through specialized training generating flexible, adaptive and capable Soldiers, Families and Civilians.
  • Enhance personal growth and professional development by leveraging an adaptive curriculum and technology meeting the needs of the transforming military.
  • Employ resources to build and strengthen enduring partnerships resulting in resilient strong communities.

The Army Family Team Building (AFTB) program curriculum consists of over 40 modules of instruction taught by Army Community Service certified Master Trainers and/or AFTB Instructors. The curriculum is designed to provide the information, knowledge, and skills needed to gain self-reliance and to better use the community support programs to assist throughout a  spouses' career. All service members are also eligible to attend all AFTB classes (online and/or in a classroom setting). Army Soldiers in pay grades E-1 to E-4 can earn four promotion points after completing levels I, II, and III.

  • Level I is designed for new spouses entering the Army as well as Air Force, Navy, and Marine personnel and their Family members and helps them maneuver through the military maze. It is the "heart" of the program.
  • Level II is designed for emerging leaders and provides them with the tools and skills to take on leadership roles within US Army Garrison Stuttgart and in future locations.
  • Level III is designed to provide all spouses with the skills sets needed to advise and mentor volunteers and to serve in senior level leadership positions.

AFTB Instructor Training

  • ACS Master Trainers train new instructors in skills such as briefing, facilitating, and how to get and retain volunteers. Volunteers agree to a one year commitment to AFTB after completing this course.
